Re: attribution

On the other hand, Aristotle wrote that ethics and politics are closely linked. There is no ethics in colonialism and occupation, nothing to do with politics but ethics. Therefore, e.g. Mali terracotta works of art from Djenne Inland Delta region are NOT French and have never been classified as Fren...

Re: Austrian hallmarks

What looks like ``R`` is probably just poorly cut mark; on top is ``13`` and ``B`` in circle.

Re: attribution

Where is the logic discussing an obviously East Prussian silversmith working in Latvia under Russian occupation, i.e. under colonial rule ? Compare with e.g. magnificent Nigerian and Mali art, fetching high prices at auctions, but never classified as British or French artifacts.

Hecho en Mexico is ``Made in Mexico`` in Castellano (Spanish).
Eagle numbers are very inconsistent.

Re: Enameled box mark,Russia or Armenian?

An early 20th century Austrian unmarked silver and champlevé enamel figural table timepiece, probably Vienna circa 1910 How do they even know it is Austrian and 1910 ? Because there is clock mechanism inside. Such huge and important item is supposed to be fully marked, but many Vienna silver & e...

Re: Enameled box mark,Russia or Armenian?

I would not exclude European origin in spite of the fact there are no official assay marks. Champlevé of this quality is seen only in e.g. Vienna enamel (oriental revival), never in Asia. There is Vienna champleve with no marks and unusual fineness, e.g. 935. Serial (design) number, overall appearan...

Re: Gold mark

583 after the star (mark on the left) is of course 14 K gold.
24 K = 1000
14K = 14000 : 24 = 583,33333

That is precise 14 K, although almost everywhere 14 K is marked 585.

Re: Gold mark

The mark on the right is upside down; it is dot 5 in front of manufacturer's logo difficult to decipher.
.5 is year code for 1985.
Can you read the letter in front of the star (assay office letter code)?

Re: Silver tobacco box, maker?

Postimages server is down. It is Netherland`s lion 1814-1953, number 2 for .833.
Minerva head should be enlarged enough to identify Assay Office letter code.
Maker`s mark is probably rotated at 90 degrees; anyway Peter will recognize it, just try to take close up of ALL marks.

Re: russian silver tea caddy, makers mark identification

Typical for your kind; you are the best in everything, arrogant, omnipotent, derogation of other people`s research (Skurlov in this case ``He knows nothing``).On the other hand, you have 100 documents on Loskutov family, and in spite of that GL remains unknown. Skurlov has extensive data, PL and Iva...

Re: russian silver tea caddy, makers mark identification

There seems to be a dozen unrecorded ЛОСКУТОВ family members whose first name started with G, all were prominent silversmiths but not recorded in any reference book. Skurlov collected only three of them.

Re: Hairbrush with imperial eagle and AH monogram

Of course it is a fake. Buy scrap and add Führer initials. Look at asymmetric Hakenkreuz - every leg of the cross is of different length.
Not even a dangerous fake.
Two stupid obsessions among collectors: Nazi relics and Imperial Russia.
