Looking for more information on possible pre-1789 silver gravy boat
I have what I believe to be a Paris made pre 1789 made gravy boat decorated with the bust of a nobel, perhaps King Louis XIV. Looking to properly date and find out more information about the item. The bottom of both pieces have the same marks. Thank you in advance for any help. I apologize for the l...

Re: Help with unknown frame maker marked "925" and "MV"
Good morning, In my limited experience I do not believe that this is Mexican. Have noticed a certain similarity in the floral pattern with the bowl you posted in European silver that Oel has identified as Portuguese. Please look for other marks then let's see what others have to say. Good luck in y...

Help with unknown frame maker marked "925" and "MV"
I recently acquired this frame marked "925" and "MV." I am guessing the piece is Mexican but please correct me if I'm wrong. Hoping someone here might know the artist.
Thank you in advance.

Re: Help identify this mark.
Hi welcome to the forum, I believe it to be Portuguese silver, this particular assay mark for the city of Porto also known as Oporto, used 1843/1853. The zig-zag line is made by the assayer to determine the silver fineness, I believe fineness could be above sterling standard (925/1000) and perhaps ...

Help identify this mark.
This is my first post. This is a great forum and I look forward to learning and contributing on here. I recently bought this bowl and I'm not even sure if it is sterling silver. Please let me know if any recognizes the mark and if it's even sterling silver. Thank you in advance. http://i.imgur.com/4...
