William Carr worked for his father in Birmingham for several years. Two others sons, James and Joseph also worked for him.
In 1832 William Carr moved to Sheffield and set up ...

city uniform verification number
Good morning,
I'm looking for city uniform verification number list.
The mark under the crown and the royal cypher (VR, ER,GR...) to research the city of the authorities that applied that.
37 is Sheffield, 21 London, 6 Birmingham...I'm looking for 29 but I would like to have all the list.

gold ring
Good morning, I'd like to know your opinion about this gold ring.
It shows a silversmith hallmark "L&W", "18 c." and last one hallmark "O447" or "Q447".
What do you think about?

Re: silver jewel casket
Thanks a lot for your suggestions.
I have seen the hallmark that you say but there are no silver mark like number (830 or 12/13 for german silver).
It could be silverplated?
The other mistery are the two hallmarks in the middle...the first could be a Frankfurt mark?, and the second one?

The strange letters ESMC
Hi, I have this silver plated canldestick. On the side there are marks " D & CO" and instead of the classic epns there are the letters "ESMC".
What's meanings?
Do you know the origin of these marks and where it's from?
Thanks
Iris

The mistery of my milk-jug
Hi,
I need some information about a pretty milk-jug.
Inside it's vermeille ( with gold).
On the back it has a shield with a lion inside and under his feet the date(?) 1820.
There are also two mark "A" and a oval mark with inside three letters: the first is D. the second may be T. or F.
