32oz. Sterling Silver Mug Age? Maker?

Here is a Large 32 oz. 1 quart mug with only the word sterling on the bottom. I am trying to date this piece or ID the maker. Thank you for any help with this.Image

Here is the crest on the front of the tankard, I did not know the group here also identified crests. I believe this is dated 1778. Thank you for your expertise. Image
