Re: Question on The towers, Hamburg

If it is not Hamburg, could it be Altona, which also has three towers. Anyhow; it is definitely well before 1870, because it had been passed for sure from our ancestors to us at least over four generations. At least it must be a city in the north of Europe, else Lübeck. Does this hallmark always sta...

Germany 835 CB

I have a cream spoon very likely to be German. It is hallmarked in the spoon with 835 and CB. Questions:

Does anybody know why 835 was uses rather than 800?
Who is CB?

Question on The towers, Hamburg

I have five little spoon all marked with the three towers of Hamburg. This hallmark is usually on silverware dating before 1970. But there is no other hallmark on it: Questions: Does that mean that the silverware is of sterling quality? Wy would that be without any indication of who has made it? htt...

Another one:
I have a spoon with a Lily pattern. The first three signs indicate Germany. The sign following is the manufacturer; looks like a B with something at the bottom. Anybody an idea who that is?

Reimers 685s?

I have a spoon marked Reimers 685s, see picture. It sounds to me like a silversmith from the north of Germany. Unfortunately the spoon does not show any other hallmarks. My questions: Does anybody know this silversmith? I suppose 685 is the silver quality. Could that be? I am not aware of this kind ...

Re: 3, Pineapple and n, German?

Thank you very much; that explains the n which really look like Nerresheim. But do you know why it is hallmarked with the companies name but no indication of the silver grade. Since the company was founded after 1870 German hallmarks would always have moon and crown and silver standard going with it...

3, Pineapple and n, German?

The cup comes from my grand parents who lived close to Hamburg. They were very traditional and therefore I believe it ...

ZigZag and two hallmarks W and HI

Hi, I have a silver cup with the famous snake skin pattern. On the bottom it is marked with three signs, two of which I cannot originate. The zigzag-line underlines that it is most likely of German origin and dated before 1886. I assume that W stands for the year? Probably 1856? But what does HI or ...
