Hello, In fact it's Polish Army in Exile badge - unit was a part of 1st Armoured Division. The badge is known to be made by Altenloch – Bruxelles. I also wonder what country used SIL markings during WW2.

It's on WW2 Polish Army in Exile badge so probably it's British.
