ID: 20th(?) c.: ""EH" encircled
This one is rather difficult to scan, because it is positioned in an awkward place on a very round handle.
I suppose, in some ways, this is more appropriate to the plated wares forum, but although the hallmark is rather unclear, I believe it is a German silver maker of the same general period an ...

Ah, so it is!
Yes, that does look similar, and it's probably right, because one other piece I was trying to identify looks like Jakob Grimminger, also in Schwäbisch Gmuend (a capital "G" within a six-pointed star).
Now that I look at it, I can see it is probably the same mark, or a variation of it...do you know ...

ID? 20th c.(?) Sheaf of Wheat or Laurel Branch (?)
My next attempt to "stump the experts" is a little silver kiddush becher (ritual wine-cup used by Jews to make a benediction over wine on the eve of Sabbath and holy days), from the home of the same Jewish businessman in Mainz as the pieces I've shown in other posts, this week.
Here is a scan of ...

Ibe-konst, SWEDEN: Information Requested
The item I'm researching is a graceful pair of silver-plated candlesticks:
http://www.concentric.net/~rsk/Ag/Ibe-konst.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Each one measures 4 inches high 8 inches wide; the base is 3 inches in diameter. I have seen, in on-line auctions, an ...

I am in awe!
I am sitting here, with my mouth wide open, marvelling at your skill at recognizing these, and your vast knowledge of this subject!
Thank you so very much for identifying all three of the marks I wanted so quickly!
I'll have to look on a map for Hanau; I'm not sure where it is in relation to Mainz ...

Yes, Adolf Mayer, Frankfurt a/M is probably correct!
You know, I looked through that page carefully, and didn't really see the similarity; however, now that you point it out to me, and I pull the piece out again with my magnifying glass, I think I do see the tiny little "M" under what can easily be an ornate "A," and, of course, the outer ring might ...

A Difficult ID
My next puzzle is another little dish, again, from the home of a Jewish businessman from Mainz am Rhein ca. 1920.
Unfortunately, the ornate design of the dish makes it almost impossible to read the faint hallmark, and it doesn't scan easily, but in the hope that someone might recognize it anyway, I ...

ID? Late 19th/Early 20th: Circled "G D/H"
This piece is a little dish or ashtray, again, it was from the home of a Jewish businessman living in Mainz am Rhein until about 1930, and probably purchased in the 1920's, originally.
Aside from the crescent, crown and designation of 800 fine, the hallmark bears the word HANDARBEIT (and the piece ...

Thank you all again!
Thank you both very much indeed, for giving me so much benefit of your expertise!
It is amazing how so much history is bound up in this pretty dining set; it would make perfect sense to me that a firm like Rueckert might fall upon hard times in the years of the world depression. I do think the set ...

Vielen Dank!/Many Thanks!
Well, well, well!
I never expected an answer so very quickly!
Now that I'm armed with the silversmith's name and approximate dates, I have some basis for further research.
If Rueckert was, indeed, located in the city of Mainz, then it would make perfect sense to me that the little emblem after ...

ID? 20th Century: R followed by wheel(?)
Aside from the 800 and Crescent/Crown, I see the capital letter R followed by what is either a six-spoke wheel, a six-petalled flower, or a "mogen dovid" (Jewish star-of-David) in a circle.
The flatware dates from the early 1920's, I believe, and was fairly new and "up-to-date" at the time. The ...
