Re: Help reading the cursive signature mark on this pair of earrings

Hi,

I'm fairly sure that is the mark of Gerhard Herbst, a jeweler working in San Diego CA.

Re: Silver Deutsch tray. Maybe Hamburg?

Hi,

Beautiful piece of Spanish silver, Madrid 1790. I am unsure of the maker, a possibility is Francisco Ruiz, but hopefully another member will be able to identify the silversmith with some surety.

Re: Is this an (Italian) assay mark?

However, I have seen the "Hecho A Mano" and "900" hallmarks on pieces from Peru, so I'm not ruling out Peru as a possible candidate, but it seems quite strongly rooted in Mexico with a very slight chance of Peru, perhaps further research will help :: The style of the tray is fai...

Seems to be their Donatello pattern, still in production, but yours seem to be much crisper than the current offerings.

Re: arabic Necklace - origin and age?

Hi pinksteel, Yeah, I gotta admit that this whole region is confusing when it comes to marks. Egypt and Iran used a very similar standard/city mark format. Admittedly, the numbers seen on this piece of jewelry are identical with Iranian 800 (^''), but Egypt also used the same numbers in the same sty...

Re: arabic Necklace - origin and age?

I think that is an Egyptian 800 standard and city mark.

If you search the forum posts for Egyptian posts, you might be able to identify the city.

Hey Dave, Wow, thanks, I'd given up hope on this one. With your info, I got a return from google that mentioned him as being listed in Who Was Who in American Art. William W. Peabody, Amesbury MA (b.1873) Head of Peabody Craft Shop, maker of solid silver flatware. Member of the Boston Society of Art...

Hey Blulime, Stella Popowski did do designs for AEM, but she wasn't a maker. She is a fine artist, who did some jewelry designing while living in Mexico in the 50's & 60's. Her designs were produced by AEM, but include her name in the marks. Most of her designs are abstracts done in mixed metals...

W.W. Peabody jelly server

Hey all, Found this piece in at a NY market. Never heard of the maker and my refs don't show him. When I saw it, thought it would have German marks on the back, ya gotta admit, it looks more Jugendstil than American Arts & Crafts. Has anyone heard of Mr. Peabody? Or seen any other examples of hi...

Hey, Welcome. It is Finnish, the single crown tells that, see Finland Date Marks If it were Swedish, it would have a triple crown mark, see Sweden Date Marks I'm pretty sure that "Warman's Jewelry" by Christie Romero, shows your KK maker's mark as the firm of Kaunis Koru. (can't seem to fi...
