Re: Not sure if it's 19th Hanau or an older German of Swiss item
A Büttenmann, a lot of them are made in Switzerland or attributed to Swiss silversmith. Most of them have the vessel, the Bütte, made of silver and the man is carved from wood. Or also the Bütte is wood only with some silver mounting, decoration. 17th century Büttenmänner are rare, 17th century Bütt...

Small Ladle from 1827, Ship Mark
Dear Forum Members Can you help me with this small ladle? On the back of the stem we have a nice large mark of a ship and two times punched "C I"? It is engraved with "C D 1827" and handcut decorations. The bowl is gilded, but the gilding is flakeing off. From the look of the bow...

Small knives made from shell or horn, use?
I have these 6 small knives, 15 cm long. They are made of plastic, or tortoise shell, or maybe horn. The handle is very small and short, too small for my hands. The blade is weak. What are they for? Tea Spoon from Austrian Empire, early 1800
Hi I found this spoon on a flea market in Switzerland. So there is no context. It has marks pointing to the Austrian Empire, unfortunately the marks are incomplete. On the Radelpunze, the 13 Lot is visible and the two numbers on the left of the wheel. I read a "1" on the top (as it should ...

Re: Ivory handled knife
Hi amena
there is a makers mark on the blade.
Why don't you ask in a specialist knive forum about the blade mark? There are some competent fora out there.
The ivory "Herma" with the little putto on the back looks like baroque, maybe late 1600 or early 1700.

So, back home!
The Ladle is from Jsaac Amaron, (1780-1850). Made in the 1830ies or 1840ies.

Re: No idea on this silver spoon
Here my generic statement: Swiss spoons usually have the mark in the middle of the stem, not at the end. I am not saying there are no exeptions, but I do not have a Swiss feeling with this poor spoon.

Re: Help With Identification
Hi
Can we have more pictures? From the complete item to help define the age by the stile. The mark look like master marks from Geneva from the 1700, but I have no relevant book. Also, there should be more marks, a similar mark or the same mark a second time.
Is this the only mark?

Please help me identify this small Asian fork
Hi this small fork has Chinese characters on it and a mark also with Chinese characters. Is it Chinese or Korean, or? Can you identify a maker and a place of origin? When was it made and what silver content shall I expect? Thank you very much, Jörg https://abload.de/img/20221119_18324333e0o.jpg http...
