Peter, A somewhat late reaction, since I now have a virus infection. I have listed the most necessary information here There is much more to do with this, but think that this is sufficient. Belgian silver cruet with double City Marks

. Had a nice weekend, mainly at one address This Cruet was the bonus for my purchases. He was black patina and was in a bad condition. The question was, is it solid silver or silverplate After silver test, succeeded. After a thorough cleaning and good modeling, the Cruet looks neat again. At the top...

Hi Dendriet, https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/320x240q90/921/jiHjAk.jpg The spoon, made in Holland, with Dutch maker's mark has no Dutch hallmarks. To be sold in Belgium, in order to comply with the Belgian law, a registered Belgian responsibility mark (retailers mark) and unofficial fineness mar...

Re: need help with the mark

. Some explanation why I was surprised by it. The same rules apply in France and in Belgium In France / Belgium, retailers are not allowed to use a lozenge shaped / a barrel shaped, that is only reserved for a silversmith. . Hello JayT, Thank you for the clarification about the French hallmarks. I'll try to find out more about the Belgian hallmarks. After researching weekend finds, I saw him pass. Place it for completeness. Perhaps also for other searchers https://www.925-1000.com/pics/Ximg.jpg https://www.925-1000.co...

Re: Confusing hallmarks on a silver wine taster

I defer to the Belgian experts, but would agree that the taster was probably marked when imported to Belgium. Come across this by accident while browsing this site If you are st...
