Re: Robbe & Berking - Savoy Pattern
Hello, the pattern was first presented at the Hanover Fair in early 1974, so the design must have predated that. The designer ist not known, though I suspect Robert Berking (1931-2022), who designed quite a few of the patterns of the company, might have had a hand in it. Regards, Bahner

Hello Humbert and Son were Berlin jewellers of French origin, active in Berlin 1763-1894. Most likely they did not actually made this, but just sold it. The mark on the left hand side could or could not be the Berlin bear, it is too worn to tell for sure. IF this was made by a Berlin silversmith, th...

Re: 2 spoon hallmark only ?.H.C. mordhorst, engraving of name and date 1895
Hello, Fritz H.C. Mordhorst was a jeweller and goldsmith/silversmith from Kiel, Germany, founded in 1887. He had a small workshop for silver, but also sold objects made by others. This pattern here and similiar ones were very common in Germany (and obviously not only there) and may have been made no...

Hello, it was up to the warden to decide which workshop to control and what pieces. He then selected a few items from that workshop, removed a little silver from each piece and melted that down together to have it checked. If it was found to meet the silver standard it was then assumed that this app...

Re: German cup - what year?
Hello, Koch and Bergfeld production numbers allow the dating of the first production only. The low number might point at the 1870ies, but this was most likely made later. Strube was a famous jeweller from Leipzig, active there since 1819. So this does not help either. What about the Russian import r...
