Joe,

Great, can you tell me where you found the info? I've found a jewelry manufacturer by that name in Attleboro, MA. but can find nothing else on them.

Hi All,

The focus of the 925-1000.com encyclopedia is silver marks & hallmarks, not silverplate marks.
The bird mark is included because it is Meriden's mark on Sterling holloware.
I have not included the scales mark because it is a silverplate mark.

Hi,
I haven't been able to find the mark in any reference source. The mark does look American,
but the piece really looks like it's of Italian origin. Are there any other marks tucked away on it?.

Hello Andrei,

There is a slight resemblance to the Stuttgart city mark, but only a resemblance, it is not the same mark. Have another look German Hallmarks, the legs are facing in the wrong direction.

Hi All,
Pretty comb and the mark is ELNA. Like so many Mexican makers, at present, nothing is known about her(?). I've seen five or six pieces with the mark and they were all pretty well made and early in vintage, late 30's and 40's.

Hi, Welcome to the forum. Wow! beautiful set, but not deco. Modernist, 70's or 80's I'd guess, and Spanish made, see Foreign Hallmarks . Since 1934, the pentagram has been the Spanish silver standard mark (.910 purity) and Spanish maker's marks are stamped in the hexagonal format. Tardy's Internatio...

Hi Dan,
Good question, good answer, it would be nice to have it up as long as you possibly can handle it. Coupla years should do it.

Hi, I think it is just a poorly struck 925 mark. When stamping a piece, it is very difficult to hold the stamp perfectly straight, if off just a bit, one side or another will bite in deeply and the other faintly. Here's an exaggerated example from a French costume piece. http://www.925-1000.com//pic...

Hi Yuki, Thanks for posting. The date marks for London only apply to London made articles. Most of the larger English cities had their own assay offices, with their own sets of date mark letters. However, the Online Encyclopedia of Silver Marks, Hallmarks & Maker's Marks (OES for short) does hav...

Why Photos are NECESSARY

Dear Forum Members, It is very, very difficult to identify silver marks and hallmarks based solely on verbal descriptions. There are only 26 letters in the alphabet and thousands upon thousands of silver marks using these few letters. The same applies to symbols as there are thousands of marks with ...

Hi Baubles,
It looks like an example of Contemporary Navajo jewelry. A book you might check is Hallmarks of the Southwest by Barton Wright. The script lettered "Sterling" mark is often seen on modern southwest jewelry.
