Re: Help needed with Russian mark
Hi Jackk, Getting back to the original subject, Jakub Preizyg. I've appended a text below from a catalog of an exhibition at the Lithuanian National Art Museum in Vilnius. Google translation makes a hash out of the English translation, perhaps you'll get a clearer rendition asking for a Polish or Ge...

Re: Help Identifying Sterling Eagle Statue
Hi, I'd have to agree with salmoned, that certainly appears to be an edition number rather than an indication of metal composition. As to the artist, try googling "David R. Nelson". He is a wildlife sculptor with a website and it would probably be in your interest to contact him. Good luck...

Hi All,
There is also Ambroise LaFrance of Quebec, but can't find an example of his mark either.

Hi Miles,
Think that's Francois Sasseville of Quebec. Let's hope that someone more knowledgeable about Canadian silver can confirm or refute it.

Hi,
Can't be sure, but I suspect the maker is Francis Bohle of Montreal, Canada. It would be nice to see the piece.

Re: Tezcuco Plantation House in Fine Silver....help!
Hi Mindy, The silversmith is H. Alvin Sharpe (American/New Orleans, 1910-1982). Tezcuco was an historic plantation house in Darrow, Louisiana that was destroyed by fire in 2002: http://www.nps.gov/nr/travel/louisiana/tez.htm A number of Sharpe's silver pieces, including some of his famous Mardi Gras...

Pat Strominger - 2209patrick - In Memoriam
It is with great sadness that I report the passing of longtime forum member and co-administrator D. Patrick Strominger, known here simply by his member name 2209patrick. Almost since our silver forum's inception in 2005, Pat generously volunteered his time as a forum administrator and moderator. His...

Hi,
See the G. Kramer entry in the German section:
http://www.925-1000.com/Fgerman_marks_a1884_3.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Believe this is the Fischlandschmuck mark and the piece would date to the 3rd quarter 20th century.
Regards, Tom

Looks a little tar-like, I'd try cotton with a solvent such as naptha, benzene or acetone - in a ventilated area.

Hi,
Brown & Anderson were retailers active in North Carolina during the third quarter of the 19th C.
I believe they were in the city of Wilmington, my copy of Cutten is packed away at the moment, but I'm sure other members will give a bit more info.

Aw shucks, now that I've flipped it, you can see what it is for sure. Silverly is correct, not Redlich, clearly the mark of Whiting.

Re: unidentified mark compote with hibiscus flowers
Hello,
I think it might be the mark of Redlich & Co., if so you're image shows it upside down.

The photo of the maker's mark does not really allow for an identification.

Yep, bte. is for brevete, the item is a keychain and the mechanism is copyrighted or patented. Not sure how to explain how it works, but the chain will fit into the + on the disk to form a sort of lariat - know that's clear as mud - just play around with it.

Re: Gordon & Co. or Another?
Hi Trev, Wilkinson illustrates the top mark for Grostate, as well as two others that are similar, none of the illustrated marks have that very distinctive, almost horizontal, ampersand shown in the second example. At a guess, I think the second mark is likely to be an unrecorded Grostate, bears far ...
