Hi,
They used various combinations of marks. Sometimes only one mark can be identified leading to a particular maker. The bird mark is very distinctive but unfortunately it does not appear in any set of known Hanau marks.

Re: Safe to use .800 silverware?
Hello again, Silver flatware is meant to be used on daily basis and it will not tarnish if hand washed after meals with a few drops of detergent and soft cloth. Then just rinse it. Microscopic layer of silver compounds on the surface will be removed. Let`s not be spoiled with dishwashers. Enjoy your...

Hi, I suppose it does not open, or does it ? Try to unscrew one of enameled caps (gently). If it`s perfect sphere and has no flat supporting surface it`s not the best design for a paperweight, either, unless it`s Doctor Who Wibbly Wobbly Paperweight. No practical use whatsoever unless meant to adver...

Hello again, Piotr Łątkowski was trained by Antoni Riedel .In 1900 he founded a workshop on Nowy Świat Street (New World Street). This mark was used during Russian Empire and retailed by J. Erlich. He might have retailed flatware pattern found by Trev with his mark added. (Btw. this is beyond my und...

Re: Polish spoons first half 20 Century
Hi,
The maker is Piotr Łątkowski (active 1900 – 1939).
The same initials can be found in an oval.
Poland web sites have no doubt about the attribution of this mark to Piotr Łątkowski.
Mostly flatware production, but also Zuckerdosen etc.

Hi, Welcome to the forum. Possible silver flatware toxicity has been discussed elsewhere on internet. I think the issue is exaggerated having in mind overall pollution (toxic fumes in the air, food additives etc). Besides, there is no silver flatware poisoning in medical literature and references. N...

Hi,
Welcome to the forum.
Although the image of marks is very small, number ``60`` is clearly seen. It indicates the standard of silver plating.
For details see here:
http://www.925-1000.com/a_platenumbers.html
The maker`s mark is too small to decipher.

Hi, The assayer (Moscow) is Ivan Lebedkin in Kokoshnik mark For details about the mark take a look here: http://www.925-1000.com/Frussia_kokoshnik_01.html The maker could be Maria Semenova (``МС``) at least the only ``МС`` a recall (badly distorted, though). Re: Makers mark on Russian silver/enamel napkin ring
Hi,
Kokoshnik mark is upside down, letter ‚‚Л`` is seen (for assayer Ivan Lebedkin, Moscow).
Maker`s mark is also upside down (``M`` more probably than ``W``).
Can you post better close up image of the marks, please ?
The combination of colors is a bit peculiar.

Re: Mystery marks ... sterling or plate???
Hello again,
``Plate`` does not necessarily appear in marks.
Lack of ``sterling`` (or particular set of marks) means it`s not solid silver but plate.
Marks are at the top of this page, American, World, British etc.

Hi, I have cropped and embedded your images. As already said, the spoons are made in Austria- Hungary (Diana`s head for .800 standard). The letter for assay office in front of Diana`s head cannot be seen. You should clean it with a toothpick and tell us what you see or compare with assay office lett...

Re: Vienna Austria [KTA]
Hi, During a short four- year period (1868-1872) there was no letter for city mark within the mark but struck beside it in a small rectangle. The style of the cigarette case and lack of that secondary mark indicates later production and most probably Hungary (as already stated). I have seen ``dog`s ...
