Re: Scandinavian silver marks help id please
I agree, Algeria or Morocco, the left and center marks are none too clear and may have been intentionally effaced. The right hand mark is rectangular and has been overstamped with the crowned shield mark with the boat, I think we might be seeing a mark from Libya for the first time. Below is the sea...

Hi,
In English, these are usually called aspic sets. I am also curious as to where the set was made.

Hi, 800 pixels is perfectly fine for this forum. The note was for the percentage of site users that prefer a 14inch screen at 1024x768 resolution, and get cropped versions of some images. No need for anyone to post images smaller than 8 inches or 800 pixels, the minority of small screen users, mysel...

Hi, Fascinating mark. Can't recall ever seeing an inverted crest on an English handle before, nor on an American or Canadian piece. However the use of 1 st indicates that WY was working in an English speaking country or colony. Hope someone is able to track him down. Regards, Tom ps. my mom was a sa...

Re: Assist ID mark initial S in spade shape cartouche
Hi,
Cannot identify it with certainty, but it is similar to the mark illustrated in Rainwater for the Sinclair Mfg. Co. of Chartley, MA., in business ca. 1950. The measure would match nicely to the time period.

Hi,
Thanks for the description, however your words don't tell us the 'where, when and how' of the pieces. One image of any of the pieces will reveal all of the above and give us the references we need to search for an answer to your question.

Hi ejw,
Thought I should link these posts.
http://www.925-1000.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=197" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Perhaps between the two examples and the minor variance in the marks some new light will be shed on this mystery.
