Re: Maybe silver chalice with paten
Another thing that is always good to do on an antique chalice is to observe the thread of the connecting screw. From the photo you posted it appears that the thread pitch is very small, which suggests that the cup was replaced recently.

Re: Maybe silver chalice with paten
Sasropakis is right It can be read Obtulerunt hunc calicem parentes eius His parents offered this chalice and also the name LUDOVICA (DORRO..NA???) However, the edge was heavily clipped and I was unable to read other writings. I think it could be silver instead. You won't do much harm by doing the a...

Gilded bronze cutlery
This coat of arms is engraved on some gilded bronze cutlery from the first part of the 18th century, I believe. It certainly belongs to a prelate, I think of a modest level, but the number of ribbons is not clear. https://i.postimg.cc/XYkK23fB/stemma.jpg It is therefore unlikely to identify it. In t...

Re: French export and other mark
Could it be an imported cutelry service from France to the Papal States?
Yes, that's right, more precisely imported to Rome, since there is no letter under the crossed keys.

Re: A doubious foldable cutlery
Hi Peter, I must congratulate you - First of all for your ability to see the marks you describe to us in what appear to be just dents. Then for your authority in knowing how to make antique dealers listen to you. Some time ago, on the same platform appeared a cutlery set described as Roman from 1840...

Re: A doubious foldable cutlery
Thanks Peter for confirming my suspicions. Now, is it possible that a Belgian antique dealer would be so ignorant as not to realize that this crude cutlery is not from the early 17th century and cannot in any way be compared to the one in the museum? But if he is perfectly aware that it is an imitat...

A doubious foldable cutlery
Hi everyone browsing the various online sales platforms, I found this foldable and transformable cutlery, which is described as being from the beginning of the 17th century https://i.postimg.cc/WFY2jsk3/posataz.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/TKY8QZSY/posataz-2.jpg and compared to this other cutlery at the...

Re: Identifying an italian hallmark and possibly dating
According to another source, Margaroli had assigned the mark on 7/6/71 instead of 8/11/1971 On that date could not yet be available the new marks, the drawing of which were published in the official gazette of 17/8/1971, and in all likelihood they were not available in November 1971 either. https://...

Re: Blue enamel box Faberge?
Hi Guido I have a very different opinion than yours. In my opinion the rating is absurdly high for a 90 gram box of a quality that doesn't seem excellent to me, judging by the photo. https://i.postimg.cc/6QCvLv3Y/faberg.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/rySszkb2/faberg-modificato-1.jpg When I was in St. Pete...

Re: Silver Torah Crowns
Hi Peter
I'm happy for you
Conclusion
the Persian numeral ۸۴ should stand for
84 (zolotnik) or 875/1000 parts silver for well known silversmiths.
Stands for 840/1000 parts silver for less serious silversmiths.
Just a conventional number for deceiving silversmiths.
Best

Re: Silver Torah Crowns
Hello Peter
I wish you all the best in testing your shaker.
I have not been very lucky with my two Iranian boxes marked 84: one was 458.7/1000 and the other 477.2/1000
https://www.925-1000.com/forum/viewtopi ... AN#p201785
Fortunately I had paid very little for them
