Re: JM - Australian or American?
Hi guys, I have a teaspoon with these hallmarks too. Trev, do you know your source for that attribution? Do you have a picture of the spoon too? I bought it attributed to James McBean, but the seller had concluded that himself (there is no record of these marks). Miles, could we get a picture of the...

Thoughts on these teaspoons?
Hi everyone, I purchased these spoons a little while back and was after people's thoughts about them. The only hallmark is a maker's mark of DM, and the only one I can find closely resembling it is David Marshall, Edinburgh (that's why I've posted it here). But he only registered his mark in 1790, a...

Re: Please can you help identify?
Hi there, It looks like it could be by Frank Grady (and Sons), a silversmith in Wellington NZ. He used an anchor, lion and crown stamp (although I haven't seen all three on the same piece and usually it was stamped St.Silver and F.G as well). His business ran from 1880 til about 1922. I got this inf...

Thankyou both very much. If you want to come and have a look in Australia, I will buy you a Fosters! Now I just need to find a Dutch Silver Expert down here. Thanks again.

Sugar Bowl - Amsterdam?
Hi there,
I recently got this bowl. The marks look like pre-1798 Amsterdam? Can someone confirm this? Also, can anyone help with the date letter and the maker's mark?
Thanks in advance. Ben

Scottish Provincial Teaspoons?
Hi again, I've recently received these Scottish teaspoons. As you can see they are stamped with two makers' marks (the first is IG). Is one a retailer's mark? I couldn't seem to find a match for either. Thanks in advance, Ben http://i52.tinypic.com/2vt84s0.jpg http://i52.tinypic.com/24oy2du.jpg

Shell Teaspoons
Hi everyone, Well after 0/3 in my last posts, hopefully someone can help me with this one! These are some teaspoons I recently acquired. As you can see, they have the leopards head, kings head and then a strange third mark (maybe a bird?). I assume they must be colonial, but can't find anything simi...

Hi again,
I think this is probably Australian, but I can't find the maker's mark/name anywhere. Any suggestions?
Cheers,
Ben

Provincial Salver
Hi everyone, I bought this salver the other day at auction, it has a bit of damage, but I couldn't resist both the crest and the hallmarks! I couldn't find the marks anywhere, but was thinking maybe Scottish Provincial? The last mark looks a little like a rooster. Any info/suggestions would be great...

Limerick Teaspoons? Unrecorded maker?
Hi everyone, I just got these spoons. As you can see they have the decoration of the Prince of Wales feathers (which are largely unique to Limerick flatware). What's got me stumped is the makers mark. Obviously from the other two marks, they have been assayed in Dublin, but the maker I.D (i think) d...

Channel Islands Salts?
Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone out there is a bit of a Channel Islands silver expert. I got this pair of salts a few weeks back, they were labelled as Guernsey made. Indeed, the makers mark does seem to match Pierre Maingy . Its interesting the way the marks (they are done the same way on both salt...

Hi there, I've just been looking at some Swiss silver...I know Lausanne used a shield hallmark, not sure if it is the same one, or if other cities used different ones. So maybe it is a place to continue the search.
Just an idea.
