Re: Help on Taxco piece hallmark

I see Hecho en Mexico DF around an eagle head with JPR underneath and Sterling 925 Taxco. It's almost guaranteed to be falsely marked sterling/925. Every one I have seen with an eagle head mark has been made of alpaca, especially the JPR ones. This design is only one of several designs that are rout...

Re: Eagle Stamp 213

The hallmark book shows AAF and Alfredo Villasana use 213 but obviously others do since this isn't either of those names. It looks like Sterling, 925, something, around Taxco. Sometimes if you can get some tracing paper in there and do a pencil rubbing the other letters become readable.

Yup, Mexican. The other mark is AE inside a heart shaped M, a common mark but I've never seen it ID'd. The design was done by many artisans.

It dates from 1979-now and is most likely made by an unknown artisan.

Looks like 800 or 900 silver from Peru. They often use Llamas/Alpacas in their pieces.

Re: Who's mark is this? ALC

The stones are painted glass. These have nothing to do with Los Castillo nor Antonio, they are common tourist pieces from Guadalajara, not Taxco. The mark is mentioned in the hallmark book but with no further info.

Re: Silver (900) European Brooch?

It's very uncommon for Mex pieces to be less than 925 and with no other marks makes it even less likely to be from there. I've seen Middle Eastern/East Asian pieces with a similar mark but it looks too well done for pieces from there.

Re: is silver always marked?

I haven't run across it in American pieces that I know of but there are numerous pieces from Mexico, Italy and China especially with false marks. Unfortunately I do see a lot of American sellers claiming them as sterling despite knowing they are fake although more are unaware that the fakes exist.

Re: Help identify Mark Please - Mexico Pin

The stone is Sheen Obsidian.
The mark looks to be Hecho en Mexico (Made in Mexico) Sterling 925 M? and Eagle 28.
I've seen bunches of similar pins so not likely a name artisan.

Re: Guad 925 and a "kettle" mark

That's an eagle mark, 198 isn't listed in the hallmark book. The GuadMex mark means it was made in Guadalajara. Inlay like this was usually chips of some unknown material set in colored resin.

EDP is listed in the hallmark book but with no further info. The eagle dates it from 1955-1979.

Yup, looks like a post 1979 Taxco mark. They were usually unknowns who did work for wholesalers.

I've seen a discussion about this figure on another board and it's been done numerous times by many people so may not be actual Nouvea era. Maybe the marks, if you can get better pics, will help narrow it down.

It's probably just a manufacturer mark. Sterling chains are made by the 1000's in Italy. Most evey chain you see nowadays is from there.
