Re: Double duty mark mystery maker.....
Been looking at all the examples I can find of double duty marks and they are the same, the head is facing sideways on the spoons. So really looks like this is a double duty mark.

Great info many thanks. I got the spoon from the US as much Norwegian silver ended up over there with emigration.

Marrow scoop with very poor pseudo marks
Not sure this is going to be identifiable as all I can make out clearly is the first mark an ‘s’ any ideas? https://i.postimg.cc/L8fXhRwm/01-C98455-9-D5-A-4141-A5-AD-6-C83-F3-E4-EA58.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/9fhf7KHZ/26-BC355-F-6-D59-43-EE-B828-ECF553739-AF5.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/cJBLMhdj/8600467...

Trondheim 1844 spoon, who is ECT?
I have this 1844 teaspoon from Trondheim, Norway it has superb marks. I wonder if anyone can tell me who is ECT the maker? The month mark too would be great to know. It’s also dot pricked ‘CTDB 1844 EW’ https://i.postimg.cc/hjBjWwtp/562-D4-A31-0-A32-45-F2-BDAE-FEF076031011.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/b...

Re: Unknown CC maker
On first sight it looked Danish to me. Maybe just the angles of the photographs and often Danish items are marked twice. Not saying it is but first impressions....

Aha more of these marks......I have 3 tablespoons here with identical marks. Still no idea but North American is most likely.

Re: New Zealand, Australian silver spoon?
Wow thanks Trev that’s superb info! As far as I could make out she exhibited for the Elam arts school in Auckland in 1912 so that’s why I was on the NZ path. Maybe she studied there?
I love these items they lead to research and peoples lives, it’s so interesting.

Re: New Zealand, Australian silver spoon?
Interesting many thanks. I’ve had a search but can’t find much on Kit Turner only the mention about the Arts and Crafts club in 1912. Really hope I can find out more.
My first piece of New Zealand silver so pleased to get this.

New Zealand, Australian silver spoon?
This spoon I paid way more than I would usually pay for a teaspoon but had a feeling it might be interesting. It’s marked STG SILV 1’ KM Turner? The bowl has the hammer marks left. Maybe this time my buy isn’t anything but a modern tourist piece? I was thinking possibly it dates to the 1920’s and is...

Heraldic crown identification on French cutlery
I have a set of French Queens pattern cutlery by Francois-Dominique Naudin who was a very fine Parisian silversmith. Tzar Alexander II owned Queens pattern cutlery by Naudin. Flatware from Naudin's shop would often accompany important services created by Napoleon's imperial silversmith Jean-Baptiste...

Unascribed Wessex trefid spoon?
I have this trefid spoon that has the same mark in Jackson’s in the Wessex unascribed section. Jackson’s shows a seal top spoon of Circa 1640. My spoon has an etched date of 1687. The silversmith DR must of had a reasonably long career if my spoon is of the etched date? I’m surprised if this is the ...

Another Scottish Tinker teaspoon?
Here’s another teaspoon from the same source (originally part of a collection of Scottish Provincial spoons) Obviously there’s no certainty in it being Scottish but a very interesting spoon marked HS or SH and Tinkers marks. Owners initials engraved MAH. https://i.postimg.cc/htRX22Sg/1833-E14-B-AC7-...

Re: AMP INS mark on teaspoon
Great spoon. As to Richards book it is collated information from auctioneers and the likes so some of the attributions are out of date and some simply don’t stand up to scrutiny. It’s a hard subject Scottish Provincial as there’s a lack of information anywhere. Really interested to see that photo of...

Re: Scottish provincial? WN anchor mark
Just an update to these spoons, they were originally part of a set of 6 teaspoons bought from a family who owned them, 3 were marked like this and 3 were marked for Edinburgh. Really good to hear where they came from but really wish the set had stayed together for evidence. I really feel these are S...

HR + Tinkers marks? unknown spoon
Another fiddle pattern teaspoon, there seems to be a sudden surge of unknowns lately with most turning out to be North American but not sure on this one. Nothing diagnostic in the way it’s made and quite ordinary at 14g. It has RW script initials. https://i.postimg.cc/Sx83kxMH/C291-ECAE-552-A-4-A46-...

....also the fact that it is top marked tends to lend theory it is a later spoon, an odd one for sure.
