Re: Need help with early 19th silver cup, Indian?
The only mark of five on this cup I recognize is the national Symbol of the berbs (Berber) in Morocco and Algeria (on the 9 o'clock place). Therefore I think the item is from that area.

Re: Channel Islands Guernsey HI or IH?
I suppose the spoon to be German. The maker IH will be difficult to identify because of the lack of a town mark. The zickzack-line and the monogram point to Germany too: v dot N or E without crown is typical for a simple nobleman (v means von).

Probably 19th century. The bowl is not typical for a table spoon, but perhaps the stem is short.

Re: Austrian hallmark? 1/2
Most probably German. 13 means 13 Lot = 812,5/1000 silver. Without townmark the maker's mark will be very difficult to identify.

Re: German Art Nouveau Hammered Tray Mark
The tray is not plated but solid silver. 800 means 800/1000 pure silver and 200/1000 mostly copper.

I think the L&W mark is "overprinted" by SK, perhaps the austrian importer.

Re: Silver Napkin Ring - German made for Italian market ?
I see an austro-hungarian import mark and the other marks look very like Lutz & Weiss, but the initials do not match.

Re: Mystery Spoon - 1869 - AF - Lady Wings Motif
I think the pattern was created in England around 1850 by Adam, if I remember well. Later it was issued by Wilkens, Bremen in a similar form under No. 93 (different at the top of the handle) still with the halfmoon as the old mark of Wilkens. I saw the pattern also executed by other makers. AF will ...

Re: forks-French/Germany/Russia
Hi dognose,. Since 1888 (law of 1884) in Germany never existed a public authority of control (before there were the assay masters of the towns). In Germany there is no legal obligation to mark precious metals, but in case of marking (everybody can do that even private persons) it must happen followi...

Re: forks-French/Germany/Russia
Hi all, I had a similar problem. Two years ago I bought a fish service Puiforcat pattern "Aux Iris" without any French mark, only with German marks halfmoon, crown, 800. Having already a complete flatware service of table knives, forks and spoons, I could compare. There was no difference i...

Re: Help Identifying Marks on Silver Platter
Gebrüder Friedländer - well-known court jeweller in Berlin - was the seller of this item. The letter H stands for Emil Harnisch *11.12.1862 +19.5.1935 silversmith at Friedländer's, who made the platter.
