Taxco Brooch - Help With ID Mark

Post by Mary Anne »

Hello, I recently purchased a piece of old Taxco jewelry but can't locate the identity on the hallmark. Would anyone recognize it? Also, there is a little mark beside it that almost looks like a bell or a jug. I think it has the number 3 inside.

Thank you in advance for your time and assitance! It is greatly appreciated.

Cordially,
Mary Anne

Hi Mary Ann- Your pin is a nice one. The hallmark that you see is actually an Eagle. The Mexican govt. required that each maker of Mexican silver include the eagle hallmark to guarantee sterling silver content of the piece. The top tier designers were issued there own numbers. The eagle #3 was generally issued to the less known silver makers.

I don't recognize the initials on your piece. It was certainly made by an expert. Please wear it and enjoy it.
