William Spratling Sterling, 18K, Copper large necklace

Post by MattP »

I recently acquired a chunky William Spratling necklace. The beads look like gold and maybe copper balls. The gold clasp is marked "18K WS". The large silver pendant at the end of the beads on the chain is marked on the back in a circle """WILLIAM SPRATLING ("S" is larger than the circle) - MEXICO -TAXCO (CANT READ tAXCO VERY WELL)"". There is Eagle hallmark (looks to me like a scale, but its the later eagle mark from what I can tell). The chain is 15 inches long (7 1/2 inches long on either side) and the medallion is slightly smaller than 2 1/2 inches across. The center of the circle is fairly worn and I cannot tell the mark in the the circle around William spartling, very well. The back of the pendant has scratches and some of the mark is worn. The person I purchased it from said it belonged to her mother and she liked it a lot and wore it often. Any help is appreciated.
