Makers Mark " L " inside of a circle.. Screw Back

I found this earring over 20yrs ago, just recently have decided to look into it's past. Real cool story behind how I found it as well, but will save that for another post. I have done some research with no luck at finding the info I need, found a couple broochs that were the same design. However the owners were not in the talking mood.... I hope that the pictures are clear enough to make out the marks. It is a " L " inside of a circle with " SILVER " on top and " MEXICO " on the bottom of the circle. Not sure it is even mexican silver or simply a fake. Either way I intend on passing it down to my youngest daughter.
