Mexican Silver Earrings

Does anyone recognize this mark? ME 44 (or perhaps ME 4A?) is what is appears to be under a magnifying glass. My apologizes for the images. My camera seems to provide a better image of the dirt and dust. Thank you to everyone in advance!
