In Need of help identifying Hecho En Mexico Ring

Post by harmony2016 »

Hello,
I have a vintage Ring that is in the shape of a snake. It is not marked sterling, but I think that it may be. It also has a green stone (?) on the top of it's head. The Ring is marked Hecho En Mex ARC (?) and also has the Eagle Marking with either an M or a 3 inside of it. Is it an early taxco ring, and what do the intitals ARC mean? Thank you in advance for any help.

Hi,
Welcome to the forum.
It appears to be Mexican ``Eagle`` mark.
See here:

It`s a guarantee for sterling. There cannot be any letter but a number (e.g. number ``3``was assigned to Taxco, several numbers were assigned to makers). Try to inspect it carefully comparing with ``eagle`` mark in the link. As for the maker, it`s really difficult to identify them even with exact initials.
Best wishes

Hello,
Thank you for your quick response and answers. I have seen that Margot de Taxco made some beautiful snake shaped rings. I don't see a 16 anywhere in the ring though.
I was wondering if the marking was indeed an M or a sideways 3. Thank you for clarifying that.
Thanks again
