Sterling and 10K buckle - Unusual Hallmark. Help please.

Post by Bron »

try again. Photo upload did not appear to work. This buckle set takes 5/8" leather and is probably a bridle headstall set...not sure. The back says "Handmade Mexico" "10K 0925" and then it has the partial of letters of the maker along with an interesting little engraving. I believe there are 7 letters or characters to the maker's name even though only parts of 6 show up. This is based on how it is cenetered in the overall hallmark.
The 7 letters are almost unreadable - ????IN?

Can anyone help tell me about the maker and age?

Thank you kindly.

I believe that name is Plafina. Don't know much about them.
Probably located in Mexico City. They used eagle marks 1 and 8.
Your buckle set was likely made in the second half of the 20th century.
