Japanese spoon help

Post by rob67 »

I recently got this Japanese spoon and I am trying to get info on it. I see many pictures like it on the web but none exactly the same. I have found designs that appear to be very close but none have the same marking of "ASAHI" and "Tokyo" that appears near the base of this one. It is a Geisha girl and appears to be 950 silver.

Other spoons similar might say "Sterling" and "950" but seem to be missing the other two hallmarks. The design of some others I have seen vary ever so slightly in the flowers and face of the woman. Anyone have info on this spoon as to when it was made and who ASAHI is? I searched the name and see that there is a company with that name that you can buy silver bullion from but from what I am reading and seeing they don't make spoons now if they ever did. Sorry, the picture of the front is slightly cut off but it is a musical instrument. I can provide a better picture of the front if needed. Thanks for the help. Rob
