Finding Aid: Beaucraft Sterling

Post by Traintime »

A sample mid-century modernist or minimalist cat brooch or pin from Beaucraft (1947-2004) of Providence. A common problem with the mark seems to be a poorly stamped E, leaving a mark reading "BLAU" or "B. AU". Since a lone "B" (center component) is nearly impossible to search for, these other readings are included here as search engines should pick them up. If you are brought to this entry this way, congratulations you've found your maker and can get full historical background on many sites. But note, a similar brooch was made in Taxco and carried an Eagle stamp as well as the maker's initials..the eyes slots are angled, the nose is a button, and the whiskers are separately applied. The body is in reverse to Beau. Past threads on Beaucraft have lost their photos, so this is being added as an aid.
