Norwegian Wedding Pin Solje ?

Post by joho »

Hi All, I have this old silver brooch and wonder whether it may be a Norwegian or Scandinavian wedding pin. It has a circular silver frame to which are attached hanging circular loops with hanging silver tassels. The central movable pin is gilded. The back of the pin is stamped with letters TG, presumably the makers mark. The brooch is about 2 inches across and it is quite heavy for its size weighing about 32 grams. t appears to be quite old - maybe 19th century. Would be grateful for any information. Many thanks John

It is not necessarily a wedding pin, but a ordinary pin for a folkcostume (sølje) from Telemark.
It could be Tor Aslaksøn Ginderud in Bø in Telemark b. 1798 d.1871
