]Hi,
Not sure in the right spot for asking - but I'll give it a shot:
I have a pair of earrings that have a coin in the middle that looks as if the back of the coins may have been hammered - surounded with I believe silver with gold on top. I finally was able to get a clear photo of the marks on the back edges. But I don't know anything about them. -- Year made? Where they came from; etc.. If anyone can enlighten me about them I would be most appreciated for the information you can provide. Thanks for taking the time to look.

Hi,
It`s Italian mark after 1968, the mark consists of a "star", a number (identifying the silversmith)
and a two letters alphabetic code CR (identifying the province of CREMONA).
Regards

I think it`s CR for Cremona, but it could be GR for Grosseto.
For full list of Italian provinces codes see here:

Number ``38`` is silversmith`s registration number but his name is unknown to me.
The link explains the mark with the star on the left.

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

I think it likely to be 38 GR.

Hello again,
Trev is right about ‚‚GR‚‚ and Castiglione is in Province of Grosseto, so, everything fits in, the maker is identified.

If you read 38 GR, then the maker is
NAUTILUS DI BOTTACCI EZIO E C. S.N.C.
He is still in business and, as you can see on its website,
https://nautilussnc.jimdo.com/
its production is in ancient Roman style.
If it were 38 CR I should do other research, however it is a ceased company.
