Modernist or Arts & Crafts marked MCG and other tiny marks

Post by Maps_+2 »

Greetings forum,

Is this pin modernist or Arts & Crafts? My husband and I have done some research and haven't located any information on the marks of MCG. It also is stamped Sterling Silver, and has tiny marks that are difficult to read and photograph.

Any information about it's maker and/or country of origin would be much appreciated. Thank you very much!

Marie

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

That looks like a Dublin hallmark. The date letter is none too clear, but the letter is 'L', it would be for 1997, or 'E', 1990.

Hopefully someone else can identify the maker 'MCG'.

Nearly three years on, an answer has been found!

The mark, MCG, was registered at the Dublin Assay Office to Martina Catherine Gillan, 4, Castle Street, Sligo.

Just goes to show, if you leave your images in place, then an answer may well come up at some point in time.
