Hello,
I recently purchased some sterling items from an estate. One ladle I have already Identified as the maker's marks were clear. It was made by William Eaton 1829 George IV in London. This ladle was with it, however, the hallmark is not clear, almost like the stamp was stamped over, or it just looks that way because it is Worn. If anyone can identify it by the pattern, or has seen this hallmark before, please let me know. It does not look like normal British Hallmarks, more like just a name, possibly American? I believe this dates to relatively the same time period, and came from a pretty prominent estate.

Hello.
William Rogers of Hartford, Connecticut.
Became part of the International Silver Company in 1898.
Not sure exactly when this mark was used.
Identifying the pattern might help you to date it.

Heh, all those darned Rogers - the Maltese cross-WR-keystone mark, usually used on medium grade/half plate flatware, belonged to William A. Rogers, Ltd. of NY and CT, which became part of Oneida in 1929. The pattern is Lenora AKA Leonora, introduced circa 1905.

Cheryl's right, Oneida Silversmiths.
After all these years you would think I could get the Rogers marks right.

Search ref.-Patent date for Lenora is May 2 1899. Sometimes found with backstamp of "The Liquid" in horizontal diamond, as supplied to soda fountains by The Liquid Carbonic Corporation. (Will add photo to Commercial Crests section.)
