Hi, I have acquired a bowl with a crystal insert which fits into a silver rococo (?) style base. I cannot find anything anywhere after hours of research as to the history etc of an older "Whitehill" silver manufacturer. Can anyone help identify the makers mark (I have checked the most recent Whitehill silver plate place which began in the early 1990's and the age letter on this item appears to be 1958?). I am a newbie to this type of thing so may not be totally clear on what I am trying to describe. Please see the photos and thank you in advance. The bowl size is 20cm long x 12 cm wide x 10 cm high if anyone recognises it.

Hi Erica,
Welcome to the Forum.
The earliest reference to the company that I can find is this advertisement from January 1987:
Whitehill Silver and Plate Company - Melbourne - 1987
Your mark image shows that the company may well have used a date letter system at one time:
But it appears perhaps now abandoned:
This is presuming that the two different styles of marking belong to the same company, or maybe even the revival of a defunct company?
How did you come to the conclusion the the letter 'Q' relates to 1958?
