Help with silver bowl .1000 mark

Post by Interkent »

Hi,I have this silver bowl 12cm diameter and cannot find information on the mark.
I thought it could be a Russian item but am unsure.
Can anyone identify the mark, country of origin and age.
Thanks in advance.
Ken.

Thankyou oel, for your very speedy response.
At least now I have another avenue to research.
It seems, according to the links you posted that the marks on the item may be Bulgarian and perhaps may indicate silver plate ??
If anyone can add anything more definitive I would be most grateful.

Yes, I believe the .1000 mark indicates silver plated, the thickness of silver coating.
To make sure you best have it tested by a reliable institute or assay office.

That close-up (photo 2) looks more like pewter or armitale than silver plate. Are we seeing copper base metal showing through on the other shots or is this a lighting effect.

No the bowl is not pewter ,,it must be the light...in reality there are no coppery colours.
It has the appearance and feel of a real silver item.

Apologies for the late response but I found no further information on the item and have since sold it.
