R & B Code number 0119-H is also known to be found on a Syrup Pitcher with Attached Undertray. This 3 1/8" square tray with reeded edge includes a small hole that appears to be factory made (for storage on a spindle?). As far as I can tell, R&B passed four digit pattern codes around 1915, so they may have added zeros before earlier three digit patterns around this time. With no date code symbols, this appears to be 1927 or earlier (NYC&HR RR and NYCRR marks predate NYC Lines, which in turn was replaced by the simplified NYC). Can anyone specifically identify this item useage, a pattern name, or matching items? Has anyone solve the meaning of re-current R&B holoware suffix codes such as C, H, and S?

To refine the dating approximations from above, a four digit R&B pattern has been linked to a railroad the was merged out of existence by 1908. In addition, another NYC Lines item, just a few patterns before this one, used the zero proceeding the three digit number and is estimated to be from c.1905. Seems to push back the timeline on all this. Finally, need to mention that New York Central and NYC System marks preceed the simplified NYC.

Additional codes-090-H found on a damaged Hotel St. Francis teapot also marked "Patent Applied For" which should date c.1905-6. A like 7" coffee is also marked 090-H (same design, no patent info., slight change to client marks) and could be the immediate replacement service following the disastrous earthquake/fire of April 1906.
