Medco with an enlarged D turns up on what may be commercial silverplate. This example is topmarked for the unknown user "ANCHORAGE". What I know is that Measuring Devices Corporation of New York City, a supplier of wares used in dining, fountain, and/or bar service, also used the Medco mark with or without the full company name. In trying to trace the origins, I found that a Liquid Measuring Devices Corporation of New York City was organized around 1919 and capitalized at $100,000 with the intent to deal in supplying all sorts of measuring devices. [Albert Pick & Co. (Pix brand) and Dohrman Commercial Co. (Dohrco brand) were other restaurant suppliers who carried thier own stamped plated wares.] It is not known if Medco was only operating regionally, or if they had a wider sales representation through catalogues or agencies. However, they did hold patents on devices so more extended operations may have been justified. Any thoughts on this lost identity?
MEDCO Maker or Distributor
Re: MEDCO Maker or Distributor
Forgot to mention this...the info. on Liquid Measuring Devices Corp. came from Confectionery news, so the tie-in to Medco name is more probable.

This pattern IS NOT DeSoto 1929...strictly International Silver Co. plants. That is a thread design with no channel.
