What is this and is it plated?

Post by Slime »

Hi all.
My first post so please be gentle & I apologise if this is posted in the wrong section!
I have the following item that my mum was going to give to a local jumble.
1. What is it, I'm assuming it's a wine decanter.
2. Is it plated or is it silver? I'm assuming it's plated but hey, you're the experts .................. not me.
I also apologise for the poor photos, they are actually photos of photos!
Many thanks in advance,

Slime.

Hi,
Welcome to the forum.
Yes, it`s silver plated and for the maker take a look here. The crown was used until 1897.

Thanks for the prompt responses.
Any idea what it is?
Is it a hot water decanter or maybe wine?
