Unknown Silver Teapots European (?)

Post by RandeJ »

Apologies for intruding. I have spent hours and hours looking at hallmarks and teapots until my eyes have glazed over. I have inherited these two teapots, one a stand alone and the other in a pour cradle of sorts. The one in the cradle has a broken handle. Anyways both items have the same, to my eye, rather ambiguous mark. There is only the one mark, no silver content mark, nothing. Both have the number 1449 etched on the bottom. Both have the emblem of a stag as perhaps some sort of family crest. They are alleged to be European, my mother remembered someone telling her they are French. I am clueless. Any thoughts? And thanks very much in advance!
