The form appears the same as those blue glass lined items from England made in the 1970's (tea, sugar, coffee) and later cheapened with plastic liners and marked for Hong Kong. A sample of the same shown here (no liner) is shown at that commercial replacement site, but they don't specify it's useage. The number 50 has been referred to as a pattern designation rather than a stock number, but I draw no conclusions at this point. Does anyone know the actual intended use of this by the maker...spoon basket, pen holder, stogie stash, beer bottle holder or whatever??

Re: Sheffield Silver Co. # "50"
Well I'll be! Lea & Perrins 15 oz. fits just right with the name above the rim. 3 7/8" H. x 3" Dia. (top) x 3 3/8" Dia. (base). Hole is 1" Dia.. Bottom rim to inner base is 1/2". Too much play room for beer bottles, but a Heinz 14 oz. ketchup will work for those who like silverplate with their fries. Thanks for the answer.
