Charles Parker Meriden CT- spoon sample mark

Post by Traintime »

A large maker of a variety of items including coffee mills and shotguns and having several specialized production plants, Charles Parker lived 94 years and the C. Parker Company plant produced silverwares (credited dates vary, but firm may have been incorporated in 1876). Charles E. Parker was a son. In this sample, the normal additional mark to the right, is worn down as often seen on found pieces. It is a grade mark starting with A, and is most likely A-1 or A1. (These are not coin silver items as commonly mis-credited. Parker's early specialty was "German Silver". They progressed into plated wares.) Flatware making apparently ceased around the 1890's. Being somewhat flexible, the base metal may be brass. Again, Not Coin.
