H.H. Naval (U.S.N. C.O.) Knife-No Maker

Post by Traintime »

Blade marked for US Navy C.O. (either Officer Corps or Officers' Clubs?) but lacking maker marks. Pattern may be common, but not one I recognize immediately. Never seen this mark on a blade..appears stainless, but treated carbon steel could be possible.

Pattern is Chateau (1934-). An Oneida product marketed under the Heirloom brand trademark obtained with the aquisition of Wm A. Rogers in 1929. Pattern also produced under 1881 Rogers & Wm. A Rogers lines. [Sterling version is Virginian.] One of 35+ other patterns for naval use beyond Kings, mainly in smaller sets ordered by local commands. Officers clubs would be included. Normally marked USN in reserve or blank area on handle. (Information gathered from other sites & Rainwater.)

Oops...title should have read U.S.N. O.C. to match mark. Obviously, this pattern/maker i.d. leaves open the possibility that O.C. could also be a blade mark for Oneida Community.
