Czcechoslovakia Silver Goblet? - Help Please.

I would greatly appreciate your thoughts on this goblet. It stands four inches tall, is decorated with a frieze of birds and dwellings and has to marks to the base. The first appears to be a numerical number five and a small dot or character; the second a fleur de lis. We wondered if if it may be Czech because of the number five (denoting 800 silver?) but it doesn't match the other images here on 925-1000. Thanks.

Hi,

We'll need a clear close-up of the marks to be sure, but first thoughts are that these are French silver-plater's marks.

Trev.

Hi,
Trev is right about French silver plate marks.
Could be Christofle and 5 g denotes 5 grams of fine silver used for silver plating.

And if you can't get a better photo Danny, at least confirm for the record if it matches the OC mark in the left column here: http://www.925-1000.com/a_christofle.html

But a better photo would still be nice!

Thank you to everyone who has helped here - amazing expertise and insight (as always!). We're unable to grab a better image, but on close inspection it is indeed Christofle, the Paris maker.

Thanks for re-confirming by examination. I'm sure we all have problem photo days.
