Hello,
I have recently started metal detecting and found this old fork today while searching the area of where an old Homestead used to be. I have spent a few hours searching online since getting home but have had no luck with finding out the maker of the fork or how old it might be. I apologise for the pictures if they aren't very clear, they where the best i could get using my Iphone.
From what i can tell the markings are/say,
EP (which i assume means Electroplated)
Symbol of a Star
Symbol of a Crescent Moon
Symbol of a Sun
A1
I have absolutely no experience with this type of thing so i could be wrong about the markings.
I found this in rural QLD, Australia.
Once again i apologise for the image quality, but any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks for you time.
Help identifying marks on Fork
Re: Help identifying marks on Fork
I'm seeing "ND" in the maker's shield type mark (not EP). A1 gives it away as basic, but decent silverplate...so not just cheap utiitarian ware for survival. Simple pattern known as tipped, usually one of the primary designs added by plated ware makers early on.
