French Flatware Hallmark of Lying Lion with an "L"

Post by Thecindy »

Trying to figure out the manufacturer of these silver-plate serving spoons. I'm fairly certain they are French.

Two marks:
- one is "120" with a star underneath. Is there a significance to the star?
- the second is of a lying down lion (or maybe a sphinx) with an L in the upper right corner of the square.

The spoons measure 21.2 cm long and the bowl is 4.3 cm wide. One spoons weighs in at 91 grams.

The handles are a very close match an old Christofle Baguette set of flatware that I have.

Any ideas about the lying lion with the L or the star with the plate amount are welcomed.

Thanks much,

Cindy
