Mickey Mouse by Forbes Silver Company

Post by Traintime »

At 4 1/2" W x 2" D, there was no child's play involved in the amount of gruel these porringers could contain. Since the stamping of code numbers was rather cheesy here, I had to fly the mail plane over that steamboat full of gone relics (Worthpoint) to find another partial with the left side of the first number visible. The conclusion is that it was an "8", placing the inventory/catalog number on these bowls as No. 8125. Forbes was a division of Meriden from 1894 (M.L. Forbes was a chief plater who died in 1891) and used as a mark by International Silver up to circa 1935. So these are fairly early Moskow Mouska pieces and carry no Disney licensing marks. This sample was engraved with initials RJE or RIE on the side. Never mind that it looks like the kit-kat klock fell on top of it, these are hard to trap.
