bird/sterling poppy bowl Anyone know this?

Post by holliezhobbiez »

I bought this at an estate sale and was wanting to know more about it. These bowls were made by other American companies such as Tiffiney and Wallace. However, after pouring through many hallmarks on the internet, I cannot find this one. I reserched these sterling poppy bowls as well and mostly find Tiffney and Wallace. I asnyone familar with this stamp?

Hi Hollie,

Welcome to the Forum.

Believe that's a Meriden Britannia mark. See: http://www.925-1000.com/americansilver_M2.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It's an International Silver mark (using a version of the Meriden mark); all of the pieces I've run across with the "WB" prefixed production codes have been mid 20th century. Pretty bowl.

Thanks for your replies. The hallmark looks near the same, so I think that is it. Thanks again!
