I have an old butter knife and am trying to learn more about who made it. It has the name C. H. Stockwell as well as a makers mark on the back but I can find nothing on the web about C. H. Stockwell, only George and Edward Stockwell. Can some one help me date this or give any more info? thanks

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

The maker's mark is that of A.F. Towle & Son. See: http://www.925-1000.com/americansilver_T2.html

and: http://www.925-1000.com/forum/viewtopic ... 38&t=42004

C.H. Stockwell would have been the retailer of the item. He was noted at 11, S. 9th Street, Philadelphia in 1899.

Trev.
