Another Sharpening Steel Oddity

Again with the ferrules marked "STERLING" (at both ends) and trimmed to fit the handle curvature. This one apparently surfaced recently in an estate sale but without any mates from a carving set. This alligator or crocodile has black in green seed eyes.

A reference to a couple of gents carving wood gators for (umbrella) handles in Philadelphia around 1920: viewtopic.php?f=38&t=30437&p=104046&hilit=men+handles+alligators+carved#p104046
