Tiny Gold Charm - Maker unknown

Post by lupitt »

I'm assuming this is a charm, I've no idea what else it could be with a diameter of just 12mm.

There is a mark on the back which I think is 1899. However I can't identify the left hand mark, or the makers mark.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Many thanks

Lucy

I've just been told by my husband that this is a St Christopher. I am so ignorant!

Hi Lucy,

I read that as Chester, 9ct., 1950.

Thank you. Once again I am miles off the mark - literally!

I looked at all the date charts but as a novice the differences between letters is so subtle. They're probably blindingly obvious to you!

Thanks again.

Hello Lucy,

The mark may have originally been WJP for William J Pellow or W J Pellow Ltd Birmingham makers of lockets & jewellery. They registered marks like the one here at the Chester office from 1947.
