Hey all! I have had this ring for 12 years, and tried to get it identified since then. Today I went back at it for the first time in years. A post on your site http://www.925-1000.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=47607 made me confident that my ring is from Edward Vaughton from Chester 1902 given the B script, wheat fields, and E.V and I know it is 18 karat gold. I am wondering what the crown is though? Is it for Sheffield or am I missing something?

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

The Crown is part of the marking indicating that the item is gold, this is followed by the '18' to indicate the carat value of the gold.

The is another thread for Chester and gold in 2012...just search "British gold crown marks". And there should also be another thread for gold mark with crown and three digit number to explain conversion to carats.
